I hearby commit to living Rule 1 of the French Women's Manifesto as defined by my Mentor and lovely French Diva...Mireille Guiliano's...
Each day I will incorporate these philosophies into my daily routine. Some will be very easy. I already eat three meals a day, however, it is WHAT I am eating and the quantity of these foods that keeps me 15 lbs from my goal weight. I will add more natural activity, walking to the store down the street, or riding my bike to the library. Taking the stairs and walking after dinner every evening.
Rule Number 1 - French Women eat three meals a day.
Defination of 3 meals a day...A meal must include a protein, a vegetable, and healthy grain or carbohydrate, perhaps a fruit dessert, maybe a small glass of red or white wine or Champagne AND even a weekly decadent dessert like chocolate mousse or petite fours. ( note to self...a meal is not nachos with jalepeno's)
So today...I woke, had my 2 cups of coffee and large glass of water and began to cook.
Rosemary Chicken
I prepared a chicken for grilling tonight...I used Mireille Guiliano's Rosemary Marinade....
Ingredients
Juice of 1/2 lemon + 2 tablespoons olive oil + 2 garlic cloves, finely minced Fresh rosemary sprig.
RECIPE
Mix lemon, oil, garlic and rosemary and pour over meat to be marinated. Salt and pepper. Cover with plastic wrap and marinate at least two hours in refrigerator (you can also do this in five minutes in the morning).
I also prepared Stuffed Mushrooms...Spinach sauteed with shallots, olive oil and cheese. I will broil these when I get home. We will also have steamed Asparagus with the Chicken. I promised to post a pic tomorrow.
Breakfast
2 - Devil eggs
Snack
Peach and Blueberries, 1oz Gouda Cheese, green tea
Lunch
Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Olive Oil Mayo on toasted fresh bread from Trader Joes (YUM!).
Dinner
Rosemary Grilled Chicken, Asparagus (steamed) and stuffed mushrooms. Maybe we will have a bit or red wine with this as well
