Day 2 - Sunday - My Favorite Day of the Week!

Today was a busy Sunday - so busy that I am posting late - it's actually Monday, March 8th. Today started with a delicious breakfast of fried potatoes and egg, with fresh fruit and tea. Also a beautifully set table helps the food to taste better. HEE! Notice the curtains in the back - that is my afternoon ironing project!

The wonderful smell of onions frying in the pan with potato is what will wake the family this morning.

Then it was off to church - not without setting my hair first! It is my understanding that the women of the 1950's washed their hair about once a week - then set it with rollers. I can only go about 3 days without washing my hair or I feel gross, but I heard that the less you wash your hair the better for shine and health of it - and it also helps you to grow your hair longer - so I am going to try it. My kids thought I looked pretty funny serving breakfast but they like the results and so did my sweet hubby!

Here I am with my beautiful daughter Emily

After Church - the kids went all separate ways...Corey to a friends with a casserole I had made - his friends mother has been in the hospital for several weeks and I thought the household would enjoy a home cooked meal. They loved it! This is a simple family recipe I will post later called American Chop Suey, I didn't have time to make a dessert so I sent over a box of Girl Scout cookies.

Then it was on to my Sunday afternoon chores...typically I catch up on any laundry or ironing and watch some classic old movie on TV or a 21 Century reality show like Hoarders!! Jeff was off to watch a hockey game and John was in his bedroom studying so I had time to myself.

Final Product - Finish Curtains make any room look fresh and clean!

It's Oscar night so I began preparations for our Sunday Dinner/Oscar Celebration! Julia Childs - Roast Center Cut Pork with Sauce Moutarde a la Normande (mustard sauce with cream), Fresh Baked Whole Wheat bread (it's in the breadmaker of course) and steamed Broccoli.

All Dressed Up! I have the best hubby ever! He is so creative - he wanted us to get all dressed up for the Oscars and put on his nice suit and tie for me...well I couldn't let him look better than me, so I put on my wedding gown (the only gown I own) and we had a Ball!

After that meal and way to many Girl Scout cookies at about 10:30 I lapsed into a sugar coma and missed the end of the Oscars!

What a wonderful Sunday with my family! Tomorrow it's off to work and my 21st Century life....
