Hi Dolls,
I have been out the past few days working like crazy to de-clutter my little cottage.
I don't know what it is about the Fall but I just start to nest somthin fierce!
I am a semi-minimalist and that is a good thing living in a little house, but as of late, the kids rooms especially were getting out of control.
So, I went to the library to get some books on how to minimize. I came across a Feng Shui book written by Richard Webster…. that was an easy read and I quickly learned a lot about how to do simple things - just rearranging furniture and adding simple touches, like plants, bright colors, etc...that can lead to pleasant changes within a room.
Now let me be very very clear....I do not believe in Chi... but I do believe in God and our Holy Spirit and our God is a God of Order....so I choose to believe that when the "flow of my home is organized" it enhances our home environment in general bringing all of us health, happiness and success.
So within the past two days I have...
1. re-arranged the boys room and redid their desk area. I moved the dresser to the other side of the room, I hung special picture frames of the boys with their friends doing various activities. I added a plant and a light above the desk. They really liked it! But did NOT understand having a plant...but that's ok!

2. I super cleaned my daughters room...removed items that had not been in use and put them into storage. I added a picture frame of her with her idol Mia Hamm to stimulate her desire to be a pro soccer player and add to her self confidence. I redid all the electrical wiring and used black electrical tape to cover all those pesky lights on the cable boxes. A simple thing but it made a huge difference.

3. In the bathroom, I added a pretty candle, a frame of 3 of my favorite pictures I took last year at the Chicago Botanic Gardens. And the finishing touch was a bright red bathroom rug.

4. I arranged pictures of the children in the living room around some different colored candles I had and the colors look quite good together!

5. I hung a mirror behind the stove...it is said to increase happiness and the quality of food...and if you know anything about me...you know I am all about good food...so I did it..AND I love the way it looks!

There is more to do...but I think I have a good start!
Happy Organizing Girls!
